INTRODUCTION
What you will receive:- Individual Careers Advice interviews each lasting up to 30 minutes, with a member of the Careers Team to help you to identify your career goals and explore the options available most suited to your needs. A written summary or Action Plan of each session, to record progress. A follow up interview, if required, to help you further. A range of computer aided guidance packages and Psychometric Assessments to aid career choice. A pack of careers information individually selected for you according to your needs. The Careers Team can help you to access specialist agencies, offering further support or guidance with specific difficulties e.g. housing, drug, alcohol, debt problems or personal issues.
SKILLS COACHING Skills coaching is an intensive guidance service, which aims to help individuals find the most efficient and effective route to improved employability. Skills coaching is intended for adults of working age (aged 20 years and over, with no upper age limit) for whom lack of skills (or inability to apply their skills successfully in the labour market) is the barrier to sustained employment.
LSC Information, Advice & Guidance
The LSC, IAG service operates in the Greater Manchester district and offers the same service as Nextstep, except it is available for individuals with a level 2 or above qualification who need Information, Advice & Guidance in Employment, Education and Training.
HOW TO CONTACT US
All initial appointments can be made by the individual, local training providers or JobCentre Plus. All appointments offered will be within five working days from date of contact.
Should you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment, please notify the Careers Team Administrator who will offer you an alternative appointment to suit your needs. Occasionally we may need to rearrange appointments e.g. staff sickness, in which case we will notify the individual by telephone, where possible, or by letter.
Career interviews can take place either in the client’s local JobCentre Plus office, one of Standguide’s Training Centres, Standguide Careers head office or at a variety of community outreach venues to suit the individual.
Subsequent appointments can be made with the Career Adviser at a time convenient to the individual.
The Careers Advisers are available for appointments Monday to Friday 9 – 5pm.

OUR COMMITMENT
All our Careers Advisers have achieved, or are working towards professional Guidance qualifications.
Services operate under the Matrix Quality Standards, Standguide Careers Quality Standards.
The service offered by the Careers Team is impartial and client centred. The advice and guidance given is unaffected by any contractual targets.
As part of Standguide Careers contractual obligations, the Careers Advisers are required to complete a detailed Action Plan outlining the main points raised during the intervention, and any action agreed. A copy is issued to the client at the end of the interview, a copy may then be forwarded to the LSC for audit purposes and a copy will be kept at Standguide Careers Team office. Occasionally we may be approached by partner organisations e.g. colleges, training providers etc. requesting the above documentation, in this instance we would only forward such information with the client’s written permission.
All client records kept in line with Data Protection Act.
Careers Library information held is reviewed annually to ensure accuracy, and all information is held in written or ICT format. Other formats can be provided on request.
All information is provided in English, but if another language or format (e.g. large print) is required, our staff will advise you on availability.
A local network referral policy is in operation to ensure all customers receive the best possible help.
Advice which is available to you whatever your ethnic background, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, abilities and gender.

To attend all interviews as arranged for you, and please let us know in advance, if you need to cancel or rearrange your appointment.
To work towards meeting the agreed aims of your Action plan.
HOW YOU CAN HELP US TO IMPROVE THE SERVICE
We may ask you to complete a questionnaire, which can be completed anonymously; however, this may limit our ability to reply to any issues or concerns you may raise. The feedback we receive will be used at monthly Team meetings to help us to monitor and evaluate our service.
If you have a compliment or complaint about the service, you could speak to a member of the Careers Team (see contact details above) alternatively you could contact the Careers Team Manager at our Head Office by writing to the address above. Complaints will be acknowledged within five working days. A copy of the complaints procedure can also be obtained by contacting Head Office. |
